19th Century Prices

Describe a 19th century good that you would buy at a store. What is the good used for? How much would you pay for a similar item today? What is the rate of deflation to determines the price in 1850? What would the price have been in 1850? Explain how you "got" the price.

  1. i drew a gun and i will buy it for protection. A gun today cost 100 dollaz and some are alot more. if i deflate the price to 1850 it would be 4 dollaz. this is only 4 percent of what we pay today.

  2. the good i selected is sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are an orange brownish color big sized, sweet, and are a different kind of potatoes. It was created so people can have something healthy to eat, and can get full off it. the sweet potatoes cost anywhere around 3.00$ per pound. The rate of deflation is 4% or 0.04. During 1850 sweet optatoes were 0.12$per pound. i found this out because i did this...3.00$* 0.04=0.12$

  4. I drew 19th century boots they where gold boots. the reason why you should buy these particular boots is because they keep your feet from getting glass in them or dirt.during the winter they keep your feet warm and coozey. They keep you from getting frost bites on your toes.Today these boots would cost$150 I deflated them by 4% and multiplied $150 times 4% and got 6 dollars back them these boots would have cost 6 dollars.

  7. The dress that I selected is a very elegant dress for a young lady. It is a long orange dress. The dress was created to make women dress fancy. The cost of the dress today would be like $100. The rate of deflation would be 4%. In 1850 the dress of would cost about $4.00. The way I got the price was that I times $100*0.004= which will equal to $4.00. If any of us lived back then we would of been living good.

  8. I drew a dresser that was made in the 19 century. I would buy it to put cloth in and to put my toys or t.v on top. I would pay at least $1,000.00 for it today. The cost would in the 1850 be $40.00. I got the price by mutiply 1,000 dollars by 4% and got 40 dollars.
